The illustration on this card is of the Egyptian Cobra - Uadjet.
A winged cobra goddess of childbirth and protector of children symbolising sovereignty, justice and truth. Her name means "the papyrus-coloured one" connecting her to forces of growth and the earth. She was the goddess of Lower Egypt and her counterpart was the vulture goddess of Upper Egypt . She represented one of the mythical mothers of the King.
