My new current collection takes inspiration from the revival of Burlesque, feminine lingerie and lace. Using found plastic objects and plaster shapes, I create unusual shaped sculptures. The ceramic vessels are subtley textured relating to how necklaces are worn and the ruffles in a dancers skirt.
Many of the surfaces are decorated with the lace patterns taken from real underwear to bring a sexy and pretty look to the design. For a feminine touch I add little hearts and ribbons.
I want to mix ceramics with textiles for a contemporary feel. The designs are also influenced by corset cross sections and the dress patterns used to make them.
